Italian courses are consistently popular at UvA Talen

Italian is currently in the top five most popular languages at UvA Talen and we would like to keep it that way! Therefore, it was time for a meeting within our Italian department, which due to popularity, has grown to five teachers in a short period of time. 

Since we want our students to have a similar experience with each teacher, we talked to the teachers about our teaching methods, with the goal of giving each other tools for building the course structure and lesson plans. 

What did we achieve? 

Within a span of two hours, the following topics were discussed in depth: teaching styles, the motivation of students, the structure of a first lesson, grammar explanations, digital tools, the teaching materials and the course structure at UvA Talen.

We also highlighted the importance of our fluency courses to our teachers because, how nice would it be to take a little break between level A1.1 to C1 courses to put what you’ve learned into practice?! 

So, long story short, should you suddenly have to do a running dictation in your upcoming lesson, fill out a mentimeter survey, or wave an English flag… it is because of this fun and productive meeting!
