Course information
In order to follow the Italian level 2 course you already need to have some prior knowledge of the Italian language. You can already tell something about your background: family, work, hobbies, age and where you come from. You will further expand your basic language skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing in Italian.
The course is taught in Italian and Dutch or English, depending on the languages of the participants.

Intake
The intake procedure for this course consists of: online intake conversation.
After you have enrolled for this course, we will invite you for an assessment to determine your level. We recommend that you enrol at least two weeks before the start of the course. If you enrol later than this, we cannot guarantee there will be time for the intake procedure.
If you have completed the Italian Beginners course at UvA Talen, an assessment will not be necessary.
Course content
By the end of Italian level 2 you will be able to conduct simple conversations in familiar situations, such as the supermarket or other shops, or with an acquaintance. You will be able to answer simple questions on everyday subjects, such as your family or daily life. You will learn how to read and write short messages, for example a Facebook post, a text message or a holiday postcard.
Grammar covered in Italian level 2 includes use of the indicativo passato prossimo (present perfect tense), possessive pronouns (mio, tuo, suo, nostro, vostro, loro, etc.) and asking short questions (beginning with chi, come, dove, quandoperché, checosa).
Certificate
You will complete the course with an oral and written exam.
If you successfully complete this course, you will receive a certificate showing the level you have attained and you will be able to continue to Italian level 3.
Course material
The course material is not included in the course price. If you choose to follow lessons in class, you can buy your books through us. You then receive them during the first lesson. If you are going to take an online course, you will buy the books yourself.

What is included in the price of a group course?
The course price includes:
- an intake
- the group course
- an exam
- (if necessary) a resit. You can take the resit within six months after finishing the course.
- a certificate
The course material is not included in the course price.
What is the difference between an online and in class course? Can I combine an online and in class course?
There is no difference in the course content and course material between the online and in class course, only a difference in format. The online courses take place via Zoom and the in class courses at the Roeterseiland in Amsterdam. By using breakout-rooms teachers will aim to provide the same interaction as during an in class course. In both formats students are expected to actively participate in the course.
The choice for an online or in class course depends on your personal preference for location and teaching style.
It is not possible to combine an online and in class course. If you start a course online, you will follow the entire course online. The same applies to in class courses. This is in order to ensure the peace in our classes and avoid a lot of changes between classes.
How much time should I expect to spend on studying by myself?
Students generally need to spend double the amount of time of the course on studying by themselves. This means that if your course is 40 hours of class, you can expect about 80 hours of homework and self study. In our experience, the more time you invest in homework, the more you benefit from your course.
Which teacher will teach my group course?
In the week before the start of the course you will receive your final course confirmation which mentions your teacher.
