This year, 76 enthusiastic students from Giocamondo came to Amsterdam to improve their English in our vibrant capital. The students were divided into different groups based on level, from B1 to B2+. Learning English opens up a whole world of new opportunities. Not only does it help the students in their further studies, but also with their international adventures, internships and future careers.
Two rounds were held from 8 July to 4 August, during which the students took English classes and became well acquainted with the city and the surrounding towns. You’ve probably seen them walking through the city: the supervisors in their familiar blue shirts and the students with their blue Giocamondo backpacks. A phrase regularly echoed through the corridors: “Ragazzi, andiamo.”
Giocamondo is an Italian travel company that gives young people the chance to discover the world and improve their language skills at the same time. During the language study trips, students attend classes at accredited language schools, discover new places, take part in fun activities and get to know other cultures. This allows them not only to learn a language, but also to gain experiences that will stay with them for years to come.
As well as attending English classes, there was naturally plenty of room for fun. The students sang Beatles songs together, shared funny inside jokes with their teachers, and enthusiastically followed the stories in video clips shown during the lessons. Each episode provoked funny conversations and predictions about what would happen in the next. In this way the classes quickly turned into amusing moments full of humour, curiosity and interaction, bringing the English language to life in the process.
The course ended with a fun outside ceremony at the UvA. The tutors congratulated the students and presented their certificates in a fitting end to their educational stay in Amsterdam. A nice quote was heard during the ceremony, perfectly capturing the atmosphere of the past few weeks: "Teacher, you are amazing!" After many selfies and photos with the tutors, it was time to say goodbye. Tomorrow, with their certificates in hand, great results and blue backpacks full of memories, the students will head back to Bella Italia.
